If someone asked me right now what my deepest fantasy was, I'd say "for someone to come to my house and organize my kitchen and my bedroom, without making me feel bad for the state they've been in all this time."

The first part is merely not going to happen. The second part is unimaginable.

Oh good lord, me too. Seriously, just the idea of the feeling of relief is nearly sexual. I'd even pay them, as long as I didn't have to like... find them and call them and organize anything. *dreams*

I wish I could help you out - having a sorted house is such a nice thing. But I think you're a bit too far away...

Yep. I'm currently trying to yak-shave this myself - I need somewhere to put the stuff that's on the spare washing machine so I can move the washing machine and put my bike where it was.

I can offer you a Mutually Assured Destruction sort of arrangement (you've seen my house and helped me) but I also understand if you would still feel to weird about it.

This fantasy is remarkably practical in nature!

I legit enjoy Organising Kitchens. Wouldn't do the bedroom, entirely plausibly would do the kitchen.

I wouldn't judge you... A person who eats from plastic plates because she's out of ceramics does not judge other people. *facepalm* :-))

I would really like that too. Last summer my SIL came to town and filled our entire house with organizationy thingies, so we have a lot more space than before, but we still struggle with where to put what.

Decisions are hard!

I want my house to be tidy and sorted out but I don't have the energy to do it on top of everything else. I'm kind of fantasising about After September (when I finish my degree) and I might have energy to do small projects again. No more long-term commitments and I might be able to get the short-term stuff done. (Because I'm the one with project management skills, which gets tiring too.)

You're doing a great deal of work, I think, with the political volunteering and the WI and running your household and so on. It might not be paid, but it's work. And it may never get less than it is now either :(

I don't think I'm being very helpful, sorry. I just meant to say that decisions are hard, sorting entire rooms out is incredibly hard because of All The Bloody Decisions, so um don't beat yourself up for finding it hard? I think sorting things out does eventually hit a positive-feedback stage, but it can be hard slog until you get there. Especially if other people cause things to get undone again - I have yet to figure out how to do incremental progress without my piles-in-progress being moved, re-merged, or buried under more stuff.

This sounds like an eminently reasonable fantasy.

Fantasy sounds reasonable to me. I also relate to it being easier to decide stuff with supportive assistance. Hope you can find a way towards improvement somehow.
